Getting ready for Maine!

Alice is about to embark on her third trip to Maine. We've been reading Goodnight Maine every night in preparation. On her first trip, she was eight months old. Her food of choice was pureed vegetables and toes. Is that a delicious puree of peas and potatoes smeared on her face at the American Folk Festival?
Toy of choice? Classic. Blocks. She took her second trip at eighteen months of age. Favorite food? Pasta and tomato sauce.
Favorite toys? Anything challenging to carry, and anything to do with water.
What will the Maine experience be like this summer, at 29 months, and with baby (swiftly turning into toddler) Simon visiting, too? We can't wait!

soccer practice

Who authorized those airplanes to fly overhead during soccer practice?

Flushing Meadows with Dad

Alice spent the morning with Dad at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. First they looked down at the subway cars from the boardwalk. We miss those old 7 train Redbirds!
Grass!
Running in the grass!
Snack break. PS That's not our styrofoam container on the ground.
The Unisphere AKA the big circle. Best part was going up and down the steps.
FĂștbol. A real Queens native! Rare to see these fields empty, but 9:30 on a Friday morning we had our run of the place.

The mosaics were a huge hit.

But this was probably the best part: running up this giant ramp. (Worst part: we couldn't find any swings. Worst part II: we couldn't find any ducks. Ah, well.)

A Fair Lawn Visit

We had a wonderful, relaxing day today visiting with Nana, Saba, Aunt Wendy, Uncle Misha, Baby Simon and May-dog. We played inside, ate lunch, had a big long nap (well, some of us did), and then played outside, too. As soon as we got home, Alice ran to the bathroom and sat on her toilet seat (with success). An exciting end to a fantastic day!

Hall of Science

Alice worked for quite a long time building this molecule during a recent Hall of Science visit. And here is a nest and egg that she made out of feathers, string, and tissue paper. We learned all about eggs and the creatures that lay them at a program at the Hall called Preschool Adventures. At our next Adventure we'll learn about our bodies.

Alice, remember your first autumn...

...when this contraption kept you occupied while we cooked dinner? ...and your favorite activity at the playground was picking up schmutz to eat?
...and you dressed as Manny Ramirez for Halloween?
We love you more every day, our growing-up girl!
