Day with Dad

Kite flying workshop at Socrates Sculpture Park. There was a really big turnout! It was a lovely day, though hot. Here's Alice with her friend Natalija. Alice is sporting Natalija's old t-shirt.Retreat to the rock garden at the Isamu Noguchi Museum. Alice had fun walking on the stone gravel. Dad had fun eating a sandwich. Both had fun looking at the stone and paper sculptures in the cool (in temperature but also in the other sense) museum. Mom had fun swimming in the pool at Flushing Meadows Park.

Bronx Zoo with Mimi

Sarah likes the giraffes best. Alice noticed the picture of the zebras on the sign. She didn't say much about the giraffe here. But the sign - well, that was great!
It felt good to walk around outside all day.
Lunch at the zoo.

Coco's Garden

This week Alice started her garden. We turned the soil over a bit and planted some seeds and a few small plants. We hope that everything, or at least something, grows! We planted decorative and edible beans in the back by the fence, clematis, columbine, marigolds, and even some sunflowers. Alice picked out the sunflowers. She was so excited about gardening, saying "We're gonna buy some seeds. We're gonna plant some plants. We're gonna paint a sign for the garden!" After planting the seeds, we came upstairs and she walked around the apartment with her empty seed packets saying, "Want more seeds..." over and over. I hope we get some sprouts soon!

Visiting Blake (and the duck) at the Park

We had a wonderful visit with Blake this week at his apartment and in Central Park. We spent some quality time together watching a...DUCK! The duck quacked at us. It walked over to us and quacked. It walked away from us and quacked. It stood still. It was the greatest thing that ever happened to these two toddlers. We love you, Duck!
We love you, Blake!
And we love you, Central Park!

AMNH - Bones & Butterflies

Alice and Sarah spent the morning at the American Museum of Natural History on Tuesday. We had so much fun. Alice liked the dinosaur bones - "Just like in the book!"
We received special tickets from Mimi's friend Rose/Susan (Thanks so much!) and we used them to get into the special butterfly exhibit. Alice is looking at a huge moth in this photo. Can you see it too?
Bunny went everywhere with us. She didn't need a ticket.
We had a fun visit with Audrey, Jethro, Gavi and Ami (as well as Aud's cousin) at the museum, too.
Ami wondered how he ended up in the tropical forest (it was really hot and humid in the exhibit).
This butterfly from India looks exactly like a brown leaf. With legs. And antennae. Balanced upright on an orange slice. Cool!

Alice was not particularly pleased when a butterfly landed on her leg and decided to hang out there for a while. A museum volunteer finally coaxed it away. Alice and Sarah give the butterfly exhibit an "it's so pretty!" rating of two thumbs up.

Egg Hunt

We celebrated Easter with an egg hunt with friends Dorian and Dante and families. Where are those eggs hiding?
